FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. As a CSIR user, I cannot view the NAC captive portal to register my device. Why?
This may be due to multiple reasons:
a. The proxy server is enabled.
b. A violation was triggered on the NAC due to x. This violation must be cleared by an administrator prior to reconnection on the network.
2. The captive portal does not correctly start during the connection process on my device. Why?
This may be caused by cached pages on your internet browser. Clear the cache, close the browser and re-try the process.
3. I still use Windows XP on my computer. Why can I not connect to the network?
Windows XP operating systems have the 802.1x function enabled. This is a security function.
The CSIR network also has the 902.1x function enabled. This may cause the connection problem as the two systems do not know how to communicate with each other due to configuration settings. Disable this function under the network settings to enable connection to the CSIR network.
4. Is there a quick test to see if a computer is registered on the NAC?
Open http://intraweb.co.za - It does not require proxy but does need network access. NAC is not the problem if Intraweb open correctly.
