CSIR Wireless Certificate Repair Procedure

The CSIR Wireless network certificates expired on 22 June 2014. This expired certificate caused a connection problem for any devices trying to connect to CSIR Wireless network.

This provided us with the opportunity to replace these self-signed certificates with an Entrust signed certificate. These certificates relieve users from future certificate expiry and renewals in that the Entrust public certificate is part of the Windows OS installation and updated accordingly.

The following procedure will enable the new certificates on Windows PC devices.

Right-click the network icon in the system tray.

Open Network and Sharing Center.

Click on "Manage wireless networks".

Right-click on the "CSIR Wireless" profile and select Properties.

Click on the Security tab and click Settings.

 Click Next

Ensure that "Validate Server Certificate" is ticked (enabled) and select the "Any Trusted CA" certificate issuer.

Click OK to save these settings.

Disconnect from the CSIR Wireless network and re-connect to test the new certificate.
